Scott Tilden was born and raised in New Orleans. He grew up in a Francophone family and learned to speak St. Lucian Creole owing to the strong influence that Albina Sylvian had on him. Scott is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he conducted research in France and New Orleans on legal challenges against binary racial segregation for a thesis entitled Creole Opposition in Plessy v. Ferguson. Most recently, Scott completed his Master’s degree from Sciences Po Paris, where he currently lives.
His interests are in Creole New Orleans, Haitian and French influence on Louisiana, and the promotion of Louisiana’s diverse Francophone and Creolophone communities.
