Dr. Robin White has lived and studied in Britain, Ireland, France, Canada, and Africa, but is from Pittsburgh. At various points, Manchester, Dublin, Olympia, San Francisco, Lyon, Konna, Bembereke, Baton Rouge, Besançon, Thibodaux, and New Orleans have all been “home” and for various lengths of time.
She is currently a professor of languages and literature at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. Her areas of academic interest include postcolonial theory, Francophone literatures, ethnography, travel literature, the Black Atlantic, and more recently, material culture and disaster narratives.
Robin considers herself “a linguistics groupie” because, as she puts it, she goes to their presentations, but has different professional work.
