Jena M. Sorapuru-Karras – Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana until she was 6 years old, Jena’s family history is steeped in the New Orleans, Louisiana Creole culture, both maternally and paternally. Now living in Walker, Louisiana as a ceramic artist/art director/graphic designer, she displays her love for the culture through her ceramic art and graphic design. These mediums are her way of preserving as well as representing her Creole heritage in cultural hubs, specifically art galleries, where she’s noticed an extreme lack and knowledge of the Creole culture. She hopes by contributing to this blog to shine light on other Creole artists, tradesmen, and craftsmen who are doing the same.
