Louisiana Mixed Marriages FacebookTweetPinCategories: Genealogy, History Colored lithograph, 24×32, Edward Williams Clay, c. 1839, G.S. TREGEAR – Publisher, London. Source: Library Company of Philadelphia. This lithograph has no genealogical relation to anyone in our index. It shows the anxieties that gripped Americans in the 19th century, which in turn impacted continued Latin “mixing” in Louisiana through laws, ordinances, and customs, from 1803 onwards. As the index demonstrates, Louisiana Creoles continued their traditions in spite of these political and social attitudes.
