This Thursday, LHCV released a new beginner’s audio course for Louisiana Creole/Kouri-Vini. The response has been exciting: 10 copies sold in 48 hours. One copy sold in the first 5 minutes!
We hoped to offer lagniappe on the product, as a way to facilitate your listening to the course. Note that this post does not intend to be exhaustive. Instead, we will only offer a few tips.
We’ve made learning and relearning the language easier with this audio course: you can use it on your computers, or on your handheld devices.
Your purchase includes:
(1) The entire 3+ hour long course as one mp3 audio file.
(2) An audio introduction to the course.
(3) Plus the 3+ hour long course divided into 9 separate thematic units, each as separate mp3 files.
Themes covered in the course include:
(1) Alphabet
(2) Nasality
(3) Greetings
(4) The how’s it goings
(5) The where do you lives
(6) Discussing employment or occupations
(7) Discussing ability to cook and food
(8) Hobbies
(9) Family
Each unit stresses listening, repetition, pronunciation, vocabulary and expression growth. Learners will be prompted to listen and repeat throughout the course, and will have developed an ear for the rhythm, inflections and pitch for the language while using everyday conversation topics with comfort and ease.
IMPORTANT:
Once your purchase is complete, you will receive an automatic email with a link where you can download the .zip file containing the course files. The .zip file is very large (445 MB), so download it first to your computer, Kindle or iPad. Please allow at least 10-20 minutes for it to download. Once downloaded to your computer, Kindle or iPad, then you can upzip the file and redistribute the individual mp3s to your cellular phones.
Downloading the course
Once you have checked out with Paypal, you will receive an email where you can download the product. You cannot download it onto your cellular phones from the email. You can only download it once.
From there, you will choose a location on your computer for the download. It will take, depending on your internet speed, about 10-20 minutes as the file is very large.
Once you have selected a location and the download is complete, you will then be able to listen as much as you’d like, whenever and wherever you’d like. At this point, you can transfer the album/folder of mp3s over to your cellular phones, directly from your computers.

Stream your course online
Like music player software, there are many streaming options available; some are free, others are subscription-based.
Since data space on cellular phones and other handheld devices can increase the cost of the device significantly, many consumers are looking to stream their own audio/music to a music streaming provider online.
It allows you to listen to your audio wherever you go as if your own personal radio station.
It requires internet access, however. If you’re on Wifi, or have free data packages, then you’ve nothing to worry about.
Google Play Music – offers a free service that allows you to upload up to 50,000 audio tracks and stream them from anywhere. Google offers the most generous free option by far.
Amazon Music – offers a free service that allows you to upload up to 250 audio tracks for free.
Microsoft OneDrive and Groove Music – You can now store songs in Microsoft OneDrive and they’ll be available for listening and streaming in Microsoft’s Groove Music application, too. Microsoft only permits up to 15GB for free. This is great for you if you are only using the streaming for the audio course, as the course is less than 1GB. You can use the Groove Music app on Windows 10, iPhone, Android, and iPad to stream them.
You may have better solutions to streaming or listening to the course on cellular phones. If you do, please do let us know as a comment below.
